Review the ideas behind the questions
These notes help you choose a LinkedIn ad format before creative production starts. Focus on the campaign goal, where the ad appears, and which asset rules matter before launch.
Start with the available formats
Campaign Manager aligns ad formats with the objective selected in the ad set flow.
- After the objective is selected, Campaign Manager prompts the advertiser to choose from available ad formats.
- Video Views uses video ads, while Website Visits and Lead Generation offer several possible formats.
- Ad format availability should be checked before the team commits to a creative idea.
Know where each format appears
Ad placement affects what the member sees and where the creative can run.
- Sponsored Content includes formats such as single image, carousel, video, event, single job, and document ads.
- Sponsored Messaging appears in LinkedIn Messaging when members are logged in.
- Dynamic ads appear in the right rail on desktop LinkedIn pages.
Check asset rules before build
Some ad formats have basic asset rules that a beginner should catch early.
- Single image ads include one image and appear in the member feed.
- Carousel image ads need at least two cards and no more than ten cards.
- Carousel image ads cannot include videos.
