Review the ideas behind the questions
These notes explain how to connect test setup, tracking choices, and delivery signals before making campaign changes.
Design tests around one decision
A test is easier to act on when the team knows which variable changed and which result will decide the next step.
- A/B tests compare versions of a variable such as subject line, From name, content, or send time.
- Changing several major elements at once makes it harder to explain why one version performed better.
- Send-time tests need special care because the winning version cannot be sent at a time that already passed.
Read reports by behavior, not vanity
Campaign reports can show delivery, opens, clicks, link performance, purchases, and other activity, but each metric answers a different question.
- Click tracking must be enabled before sending if link performance needs to appear in reports.
- Bot activity and privacy behavior can affect open and click metrics, so teams should inspect the metric source before acting.
- Link-level click data can show whether users clicked the intended call to action or a different part of the email.
Pair campaign metrics with sender signals
Email diagnosis should include both campaign behavior and mailbox-provider signals when deliverability or complaint risk is involved.
- Postmaster dashboards can show spam rate, reputation, authentication, compliance, feedback loop, and delivery-error data.
- Dashboard data may lag or be limited when volume is low, so one missing or delayed chart should not drive a rushed conclusion.
- Automation reports can be read at the workflow level and at the individual email level.
